Recently, the HOA Board has received reports of home vandalism in the Muntford Circle area in our neighborhood. The security camera footage indicates that youths may have been involved in the damage. The HOA Board is requesting homeowners to notify the sheriff’s office if they’ve experienced any similar incidents or seen any suspicious activities to help prevent further destructive incidents.

Deceased Geese around Spring Hill’s Retention Pond
Posted by George Ortopan on February 27th, 2025 | Comments Off on Deceased Geese around Spring Hill’s Retention Pond
Several homeowners recently raised concerns to the HOA Board regarding the geese carcasses on and around our retention pond. I contacted the ODNR wildlife division for information and directions on our problem. Ohio is currently experiencing an influx of sick and diseased waterfowl, and Raptors, because of the HPAI Avian flu (Bird Flu). The Canadian Geese have a high mortality rate especially in Summit County.
I submitted an entry on the ODNR Web (19965-02032025) and had following phone conversations with Scott Peters, ODNR wildlife technician for Summit County. The following are health recommendations from ODNR for Spring Hill homeowners who may have diseased carcasses on or near their property to help prevent spreading the disease to other birds, and other animals species.
Disposal of diseased Geese and other Raptors: ODNR recommends using disposable gloves, and possibly a shovel, to put the carcass in a doubled plastic garbage bag, then dispose in the trash. Make sure that the lid is on tightly, so nothing tries to break in and scavenge the carcass.
If you may have further questions or concerns, you can call ODNR at 800-945-3543. You may also choose to notify the HOA board, and we can conduct the outreach to the ODNR.
