On an external halyard flagpole system, the rope is placed on the outside of the flagpole. The halyard rope is exposed on the outside of the pole and moves through a pulley mounted at the top. An external cleat allows the rope to be tied off at about 4-5" from the flagpole's base. This system facilitates easy handling, enabling the flag to be displayed and move up and down as needed. WHAT ARE THEY MADE OF? This braided polypropylene rope is hardy, and it shows minimal wear over time. Polypropylene won't rust or decay with water, detergents, non-oxidizing organic compounds, etc. Having halyard rope that’s reinforced with a steel cable core is great for large flags or heavy wind areas, or for use with certain internal halyard systems.
